Very tricky: Transplantation requires an adequate vein near an adequate artery and the bladder. Even if a femoral vein has been damaged, the vein higher up in the abdomen (the iliac or the vena cava) may still support a transplant. These technical details need to be carefully reviewed with a transplant surgeon in advance of transplantation. Most of the time, it is still possible. Best of luck.

Yes: The kidney is connected to the veins and artery in the belly, called the external lilac. I would be seen at a transplant center, they can perform a venogram if needed. There are many centers that can implant a kidney in all most any patient, the key is the medical aspect. cal you center and see them. www.UNOS.org
