Muscle tightness: Hi Steve, in the absence of any GI/ENT findings, the most likely cause is potential anxiety related 'globus'. When the muscles in the throat involuntarily tighten it can cause a choking sensation. I'd consider obtaining a modified barium swallow and if negative, further evaluation for possible anxiety.
