RICE: Rest, ice, compression and elevation are the primary recommendations for an acute musculoskeletal injury. The use of tylenol (acetaminophen) and/or nsaid's can help. See your doctor if your pain from injury persists.

RICE: R - rest i - ice c - compression e - elevation although a common mantra for sprains and strains, some of the options you can do in the shoulder. (it is difficult to elevate your shoulder like you would elevate your ankle). Simple strains should resolve in 10 - 14 days. Take some nsaids, too. If no better get an eval by shoulder specialist.
