Shoulder pain: Depending on the characteristic of the pain, such as sharp, stabbing, dull, aching will determine origin of discomfort. Referred pain: Sounds like your diaphragm on that side may be irritated for one reason or another; diaphragm irritation often refers its sensation to the shoulder. Alternatively, one of the shoulder muscles deeper in may be strained.
