Hard to tell: The best person to answer this question is the dentist who is treating you. It depends on how advanced your problem is.

Periodontal therapy: Deep cleaning (scrp) is one of many steps in periodontal therapy in treating your gum disease. Deep cleaning is performed on all quadrants, followed by occlusal adjustments and post op check in 4 weeks. At this time, a site selective deep cleaning may occur. If the disease is not controlled, we may start the regenerative surgery, or continue to follow up and scrp again until disease resolved.

Depends: A deep cleaning is just phase i of what can be done for you. You should have a deep cleaning once, and if your gum disease is still present, you may need to proceed to the next phase of gum treatment--surgery. Repeated deep cleanings is not the best way to be treated.

Usually once: Normally you need one deep cleaning with the proper home oral hygiene and following your dentist post operative instructions. The next step would be gum surgery , that if the periodontal issues were not resolved.

Depends: Research have shown that deep cleaning, even done by a specialist, could leave as much as 60% miss on the surface. It should be done with recall at 4 weeks, at which gingival inflammation resolved and thus there is less bleeding for detail and selective scaling and root planing. Gum disease treated by entire periodotnal therapy, not just deep cleaning. Laser or gum surgery may be needed.

Not exact..: recovering from gum disease depends on MANY factors. It is not just ' how many' cleanings you will need: it is also 1) how severe was the disease?, 2) what is your home care ability to keep things clean?, 3) what is your 'gums' ability to recover?, etc.. More importantly, gum disease rarely disappears but rather needs preventive maintenance and evaluation (by a Dentist) on a REGULAR basis.!!
