A member asked:

Will microdermabrasion work as a stretch mark removal method, if my stretch marks are new?

No: Unfortunately no. Stretch marks occur as a result of stretching and tearing of the dermis. The only way to remove them is by surgery. If they are below your belly button a tummy tuck treat them.

Not really: The post treatment swelling may hide them for a while , but they will still be there.

No: Microdermabrasion removes the top layer of dead skin, just like a rough scrub. Stretch marks are a tear in the deep layer of skin called dermis, and cannot be erased by scrubbing.

Don't be fooled: Microdermabrasion will do very little long term to fix problems in the skin like stretch marks. Do not be fooled by practitioners who tell you they can fix your scars by this method.

No: Microdermabrasion is best for the facial area and will not correct or improve stretch marks. Stretch marks are breakage of the elastic fibers in the skin. While microdermabrasion helps fine lines and removes the outer dead layer of skin to rejuvenate the appearance of the face. See artofplasticsurgery.Com.
