Overweight : Your surgeon can best help you with this but you increase the rate of complications with several types of procedures with a bmi over 34. For an elective procedure i listen to what the patient wants to have done then guide them on the best way to approach their wight. If they want body contouring they need to lose the weight and be stable for a period of time so the skin can tighten before surgery.

Not Advised: Best, for many reasons, to achieve a long-term stable weight prior to undergoing elective surgery. Firstly, safety of the procedure will be increased if you are not overweight at the time. Also, the chances that you will need additional surgery afterwards will be much less if you have achieved a long-term stable weight prior to undergoing surgery. Best wishes.
