No symptom No treat: 25-50% women develop benign uterine fibroid (muscle) tumors. If you don't have symptoms (heavy periods, pain) then no intervention is needed. Hopefully you with such a small fibroid. If you have symptoms then many options exist to help improve them: myomectomy, hysterectomy (laparoscopic), uterine artery ablation, and hysteroscopic myomectomy.

Probably not at all: 1.6 or 1.7cm is about the width of a man's finger. A fibroid of this size rarely causes any symptoms or problems. Fibroids can be seen in 3 main locations: submucosal (inner lining), intramural (middle/muscular layer), and subserosal (outer edge). A submucosal fibroid of this size might cause heavy menses; the other 2 locations almost assuredly incidental.

May or may not: A fibroid is a benign growth in the muscle layer of the uterus. 1.7 cm is about 1/2 an inch. This is a small fibroid & may not cause any symtpoms. But even a fibroid this small can cause cramping or bleeding if it protrudes into the uterine lining. A special type of ultrasound called hysterosonogram, or an exam with a telescope, known as hysteroscopy can tell if it affects the uterine lining.
