Draining abscess.: Very likely you have an abscess that drained. A tooth abscess will cause pain as it creates pressure inside the jaw bone. When the pressure drains through a drain tract the pain will decrease and a foul taste may be evident. Antibiotics will help reduce the infection but not remove the cause if the nerve in a tooth is the source. Root canal treatment or extraction may be required.

Infection: That awful taste is the infection that is draining from an abscess. The good news is that the drainage may help relieve pressure and reduce pain, but dont be fooled, the infection is still there. Antibiotics will help reduce an infection but wont completely heal it if its from a tooth. You should see your doctor for an evaluation and proper treatment. Dont wait too long. Best of luck!

Tooth abscess: The popping on face or gum is commonly related to the infection of teeth or oral-facial structure. Sometimes, it could be deadly. Seeking your dentist or an oral surgeon for help is strongly recommended.

Bad taste is abscess: Even though you are on antibiotics and pain meds, the infected area continued to expand the tissues in your gums to the point where it could no longer remain intact and the abscess drained. The bad taste is the abscessed tissue or pus from the infected area. Your abscessed tooth will still need to be treated.

Fistula: When an abscess at the root end fills w puss, it can sometinesfistulate and drain into the mouth. This will relieve the pain but will not cure the abscess. Nor will the antibiotic. The cause of the abscess needs treating, namely a root canal on the infected tooth!
