Why did my doctor prescribe me elavil (amitriptyline) for fibromyalgia when i said i didn't want more medication and i just asked for a referral to a chiropractor?

Not sure: Best way to treat fibromyalgia is with improving sleep quality and regular aerobic exercise. There is evidence that regular practice of taichi can be helpful. Not sure if chiropractic manipulations will help.

Not a bad choice: I don't know why your doctor prescribed medication when you told him you wanted a referral to a chiropractor. Mds and chiropractors operate from differing world views, so it is not often you'll find an md willing to refer to a chiropractor. There is no evidence greater than anecdotal report that chiropractic will help your fibromyalgia. There is evidence that medication can help with the pain.
