Amitriptyline works and stops working with each increase after 1 week on each dose, i am on 20mg and i have lower abdominal burning. what medications besides nortriptyline should i ask my doctor about? amitriptyline also makes me very tired all day!?

You don't mention the diagnosis for which amitriptyline is prescribed. 20 mgs is a small dose. There are much better antidepressants available if your diagnosis is depression. You could always get a second opinion if you're not satisfied with your diagnosis, care or choice of medications.
