Hard to answer: Ideally the answer is yes- however- only if the biopsy can be done. Sometimes, a ct guided biopsy can't be done- when the location is very difficult to reach for instance- due to the proximity to other important organ or great vessels -like here in your case. Then, in that case, you should possibly see a cardiothoracic surgeon to have an open biopsy arranged. Pet scan should be considered.

Biopsy is reasonable: Based on the information you provided, a biopsy is certainly reasonable. There would be 3 ways you could get a biopsy. One would be an endoscopic ultrasound (eus), another would be a ct-guided biopsy, and the last would be a thorascopic (surgical) biopsy. Check with your oncologist and surgeon to see what is the safest method for you.
