A member asked:

Pancreatic duct in tail is 1.8mm, the doc biopsied the tissue around it, but said there were no rumors. if there were no tumors, why the biopsy?

To rule out tumor: Needmore information. Biopsy was done to make sure you do not have tumor, most likely your tests ( like CT , MRI etc ) might have showed a suspicious density ,that needed further investigation , so biopsy was done , now relax due to the good news .

No reason: Slight dilatation of distal pancreatic duct of no significance especially in the absence of any discreet lesion. In situ Ca of pancreas begins in duct system and develops over a 15-20 yr period until an invasive lesion is seen. Slight duct problem could be due to narrowing of duct due to inflammation or rarely the in situ lesion. The only bx would be via ERCP with brushings of the duct.
