My 53yr old dad with type2 diabetes has a small unhealing boil on his thumb which keeps oozing blood often. pls exp in detail why and what to do?

Diabetes control?: How well is your father's diabetes controlled? If he has high sugars, typically wounds do not heal well. He should see his primary care provider, and possibly seek referral to wound care.

Needs to be checked: Your dad has a boil on his thumb he is a diabetic.He should consult his doctor&get treated for the boil.It may need to be treated with Antibiotics&may even require incision&drainage.Patients with Diabetes are more prone to infections&are slow to heal.A boil is an abscess and needs to be dealt with.The doctor may treat conservatively with Antibiotics and warm soaks or refer for I&d to a surgeon
