Person vaccinated?: A person is vaccinated against HepB after birth. The vaccine prevents liver cancer that HepB causes, and prevents HepB infection. If a person is not vaccinated, he can call his doctor to ask about the vaccine. A person living with a HepB carrier should have a blood test every 5 years or so, to check the level of immunity (from vaccine) against HepB. HepB is not transmitted via soap or handwashing.

If there is any question of transmission (sounds very unlikely) your Dr could even consider giving you a dose of HBIG- Hep B immune globulin- if you are not already immune to Hep B, plus vaccine
