Depends: This depends on whether or not you need or want to have it fixed. Keep in mind, the type of hernia you have described is very low risk to observe, especially if it is not causing symptoms. If it is causing symptoms, it may be better to fix it. Surgery: Is indicated if the defect is getting bigger . You don't have to have a protrusion. Consult with your physician to see if you need a referral to a surgeon who will do the hernia repair.
