Scope Reasonable: If you've had unexplained pelvic pain for 6 months or more, you are a candidate for a diagnostic laparoscopy. Assuming that your doctor has taken a thorough history and exam, and you've had a negative pelvic ultrasound, a diagnostic laparoscopy is reasonable for the next step. The doctor may also consider looking in your bladder ("cystoscopy") to evaluate for other causes of pain.
