I vomited and subsequently find that swallowing is painful. am i having a sore throat?

A surprise?: When you vomit, much of what comes up your esophagus and into your mouth is acid. There is thus some acid residual coating your esophagus until it is diluted by saliva or returns to your stomach with normal esophageal function (peristalsis). If the acid also contacts the entrance to your airway you may even experience a transient sore throat.
