Acid: Your hiatal hernial sets you up for significant acid reflux which will cause your sore throat and vomiting. Acid is very irritating to the throat. Your reflux needs to be treated aggressively.

More info: If you have a large hiatal hernia, also known as a paraesophageal hernia, this could be the cause of your symptoms. It would be highly unlikely for you to have this condition at age 27, and young need more testing for gerd, such as an upper GI contrast study, esophageal manometry, and ph testing.
