When people feel a forehead for a fever why do they use the back of the hand? does the back of the hand have more nerve endings?

Nope.: Touch is not a great way to check for a fever. There are too many environmental influences. A themometer is a cheap and much more effective way to check for a fever.

Fever: It was the way of checking for a temperature before most people had thermometers. The back of the hand is more sensitive, but the best way to determine a temperature is by using a thermometer. It, at least, has some accuracy to it.
