Yes: Orajel is a topical anesthetic that will very temporarily relieve the pain. If the paid is really bad you may want to consider over the counter pain medication such as Ibuprofen if it is safe for you to take, although it may not work too well. If the pain lasts longer than a week or two, you can consider seeing a dentist for an evaluation. Although it should begin to resolve soon if just a cut.

Things to consider-: First is the question, how did you cut your tongue? You might have some sharp edges on your teeth, that if not smoothed off will prolong healing. Secondly, avoid spicy and acidic foods which irritate wounds. Salt water tends to act as a mild antibiotic and also soothes the tongue. Orajel will probably not last long as the saliva washes it away. Otc may help somewhat. See dds if necessary.
