No: For relief, make a mixture of Benadryl (diphenhydramine) liquid (12.5mg/tsp) with kaopectate (or maalox) - equal parts of each liquid . Rinse with 1 teaspoon every 2 hours for 45 seconds - 1 minute and spit out. Stop rinsing with listerine. Don't use orajel. Both products will further irritate your sores.

See your doctor: You really should see your dentist or doctor. These are usually simple issues to fix with the help of either one. Listerine can slow down the healing of ulcers or sore spots with its high alcohol content (assuming its not listerine zero).

Salt water rinses?: You can use orajel but it doesn't last very long as the saliva will wash it away rather quickly. Trying to kill the bacteria with listerine only has limited effectiveness and may not speed healing at all. As a matter of fact, it might irritate the area and delay healing. You should see a dentist to find out exactly what the sores are and then what would be the best treatment if any.
