Ibuprofen and ...: Sensitivity toothpaste. Sensodyne is most common brand but every toothpaste company makes one and they work the same.. It will go away. Avoid cold stuff too. Other options from your dentist may include mi paste, high flouride toothpaste (ie prevident) or even a flouride varnish treatment from your dentist.

Sensodyne: Your best bet is to try sensodyne toothpaste for sensitive teeth. It is over the counter. Leave it on your teeth as long as you can and take advil or tylenol (acetaminophen) (assuming that you have no allergies or medical contraindications). The situation is usually temporary. If it does not subside, call your dentist.

Aleve+24hrs=Relief : The peroxide in tooth whiteners effect individuals very differently. Some experience no pain, some can have excruciating, but short lived pain. It's always best to reduce the initial "wear time" to see how you respond to the whitening agent. For some, shorter but more frequent exposures provides successful whitening without the discomfort. Others may only tolerate a short weekly whitening.

Try sensodyne: Whitening teeth can cause acute post-op sensitivity in some people, however will not permanently damage your teeth. Pain with whitening will eventfully diminish over time. Avoid extremes of cold and hot. Can try otc desensitizing toothpaste, ie. Sensodyne.
