Only if hypothyroid: If the nodule were benign, and if your overall level of thyroid hormone is normal (you are not hypothyroid), then the nodule should have no effect on your metabolism of weight.

Less thyroid: If your thyroid is not adequately functional, you may have inadequate thyroid hormone levels. Your thyroid hormones modulate your metabolic rate. Hypothyroidism results in weight gain and lack of energy.

No: If it's one of the rare "hot nodules", it making you hyperthyroid and weight loss might be an unwanted effect. If there is any reasonable possibility that it's malignant, it does need to come out. Otherwise, no. Most folks find the key to successful weight loss is to become aerobically fit; the brain tends to have a better sense of how much you really need to eat. Cheers & thanks for asking.
