Depends: It is a question of your health insurance--some require referrals from primary (hmos), others you may see whomever you want for a percentage of the fee (ppo/pos). Check with your insurance plan (can call info # on back of card).

Possibly: May depend on requirements of your insurance company: some allow self referral, others require referral from pcp. Check insurance manual or call to find out. Another option is to get second opinion from another pcp concerning signs/symptoms/concerns u r having. Also make sure cardiologist is in your health plan's system if that is required.
