A member asked:

What can i take for a cough and cold i've had for about 4-5 days? i have asthma and allergic to penicillin and ibruprofen

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A few options: Asthma is likely to flare a few days into a cold. It should be treated with inhaled albuterol as needed, but may also require inhaled steroids for the duration of the cold, or perhaps oral steroids. The cold symptoms can be treated with nasal steroids for congestion, or even otc afrin for a few days. Nasal iptratropium to dry out the nose. A tablespoon of honey at night may work well for cough.
