Why do i sometimes start coughing and then have to take a cough drop when i dont even have a cold?or anything else,i do have allergies, is it asthma?

Not necessarily: as not every cough comes from the lungs, inflamed upper airways can cause cough too, more history, good physical exam and probably peak flow measurement / spirometry (sort of lung function testing) will help your diagnosis.
