TSH and HPT: I assume you mean "tsh", thyroid stimulating hormone, in your question. Patients with hyperparathyroidism ( hp) have no elevations of tsh, which stimulates the thyroid gland to secrete thyroxine. Patients with an under-active thyroid gland have hypothyroidism and the clinical test that can lead to this diagnosis is the tsh. Parathyroid glands are distinct from thyroid gland.
