Ionized ca, PTH: In hyperparathyroidism, it is common to have a low vitamin d level along with the elevated calcium. The next step would be to be sure that the active fraction of calcium ("ionized calcium") is elevated. If this is elevated, one would next order a parathyroid hormone level.

Parathyroid hormone,: Level to be checked first with phosphorus level. Your parathyroid needs to be low in the context of high calcium. If high or even normal, and not low, would check parathyroid nuclear scan. If an adenoma (benign tumor) is found, it will need to be removed or you will need to see endocrinologist or nephrologist for further management.
