MGUS or....: We all have poly(many)clonal immunoglobulins (ig's) such as iga, igg, igm, ige, IgD that help fight infection. Another name of ig's is antibodies. A mono(one)clonal population of ig's is mgus -- monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance -- or related to a more significant problem. Mgus actually be multiple myeloma or be related to another disorder (eg cll, nhl).

IgA paraprotein: An IgA kappa monoclonal protein represents a single clone of bone marrow cells that have reproduced in an aberrant fashion. If this is what is found on immunofixation then a hematologist should be consulted for further workup.
