Probably not: An MRI of the lumbar spine is usually narrowly focused on the spine. Your doctor may suspect there is a pinched nerve in your spine that is causing your pain. A dedicated MRI of the pelvis and/or hip would be necessary to directly evaluate those structures. Docs may order combined MRI lumbar spine and pelvis, but this is significant additional cost. May be good to start with just one.
