If the movement which creates the cracking sound does not elicit any pain, you should not worry about it. My knee makes that sound when I bend it since my teenage.

You don't mention whether you're experiencing pain, swelling, tenderness or limitation of motion. Cracking sound alone is nonspecific and could be caused by rubbing of cartilage on other surfaces. If there's no discomfort accompanying the cracking there's usually no serious issues like a torn meniscus or tendon damage. If you still have concerns, consult an orthopedic specialist for evaluation.
