Be seen: I applaud your effort to lose weight and exercise. That being said, you may want to be seen and evaluated just to insure that you did not seriously injure your knee. Doing exercises that are too “extreme” may lead to injury if you have previously been very sedentary. Consider working with a trainer to graduallly increase your exercise regimen.

Exercise & Knee: I agree w/the good advice you received and want to support you in your journey to improved health. Please exercise under the care of your doctor and a certified trainer. Please get you knee checked out by your doc and do alternative exercises if necessary. Peace and good health.
