Something has become inflamed in the knee, especially if you feel warmth or see redness. Resting your knee and applying ice for 10 minutes three times daily will probably only help a little so i would plan on seeing your primary care physician. Some orthopedic offices have same day urgent appointments. The doctor will need to determine if it is a cartilage or tendon problem.
