Why so long: The bigger question is, are you still on opiates. If not, why are you still on subixone.

See answer : Suboxone has been used regularly in us for 10 yrs so the answer is really limited to that. No major long term side effects identified thus far. Rare risk of liver damage, monitored with simple blood test. Low testosterone is also a side effect, which other opiates can cause as well. Constipation never goes away easily treated. Talk to your doctor about long term risk-vs-benefit.
