Lifestyle, namely diet and exercise are critical in a long term weight management program. Workplace changes, specifically not sitting at a computer, are as important. Eating at night should be avoided at all cost and drinking adequate amounts of water is paramount. Metabolic processes slow down significantly with aging and time management and discipline are important to rebalance them.

I agree with Dr. P. You have to reduce your daily calorie intake by 500 calories every day for 1 week to lose 1 pound of fat. I recommend seeing a dietician at your local hospital who'll determine your ideal weight, tell you how many daily calories you should eat depending upon your activity status, critique your eating habits & give you sample diets to follow. All this in one visit.

Not easy, but you need to reduce your food intake and increase physical activity. It may help to join a support group like Weight Watchers. Wish you good health!

One suggestion is to engage the services of a licensed Nutritionist to help you regulate caloric input. The Nutritionist will help you make better choices while providing information on less problematic foods.
