Nasopharyngeal Cance: Nasopharyngeal cancer (npc) is though to be related to the ebstein-barr virus (ebv), the same virus that causes infectious mononucleosis (im) in many people. Other co-factors and promoters, such as diet and genetic predisposition, are at work, because clearly millions and millions get im and recover completely, but npc is quite rare, especially in the us.

Unclear: Smoking and drinking contribute to the development of nasopharynx cancer, but not as clearly as with other head and neck cancers. It is a cancer that is more common in asia and the middle east, more common in men than woman, and is thought to be related in part to epstein barr virus infection, it is also more common in cultures with high intake of salted or pickled foods (like fish).
