A member asked:

My tonsils are inflated for 4 years and my doctor has been giving me antibiotics but no improvement so i ask him to take it out he said no?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tonsils: In the mid-20th century, tonsillectomy was an oft performed procedure, until full recognition of the importance of their immune function was recognized. Every effort is made to retain the tonsils. In the case of recurrent infection, thorough culture of the oropharynx and targeted antibiotic therapy may be tried. If this fails, rethinking of the tonsillectomy may be necessary.
