Don't spank: Some two year olds hit for no reason because they can't verbally express what they are thinking. This will be more of a problem in a special needs child. Spanking will only teach your child that hitting is a valid way to get what he wants.

Some neurogenetic &: neurodevelopmental disorders have aggression as part of their behavioral profile. A Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrics evaluation for genetic & other medical causes is needed, if not already done. This includes a Chromosomal Microarray & DNA Probe for Fragile X. Educational & behavioral therapy must be tailored to his developmental age. Spanking will only teach him that hitting is okay.

Don't spank: Recent studies have indicated that spanking does not alter children's behavior. I would contact a behavioral psychologist for recommendations.
