Not necessarily: Pet for carcinoid is not really "routine" but it is not at all unusual and it is certainly reasonable to get a postoperative baseline scan. Often depends on the specific situation.

Maybe: There are several reasons your md may want to order a pet/ct scan. Most likely he is looking to see if there are other carcinoids or things to worry about , now that your tumor has been removed.

Depends: Every patient's situation is unique. If your original carcinoid was pet positive, this could be to look for recurrence. Other scans (such as somatostatin receptor scintigraphy (srs, also called octreoscan) or mibg scans may also be performed.

Not uncommon: Some sort of surveillance is recommended after intervention for cancer. A pet/ct at 4 months after resection of a primary lung carcinoid is perfectly reasonable.
