It may vary: Bacteremia or septicemia (blood infection) occurs generally within hours to days after contracting the infection depending upon the virulence or strength of the offending organism and the immune system of the affected individual. Symptoms of such would include persistent fever, increasing body weakness, generalized aches etc. And it can be confirmed by doing blood cultures.
