A member asked:

What is the difference between uti and prostatitis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

UTI: "uti" includes all types of infections in the urinary tract. Cystitis is specifically a term describing inflammation of the bladder. Pyelonephritis (also a uti) on the other hand is an infection of the kidney causing significant systemic symptoms. Prostatitis often causes vague aching symptoms often with negative urine cultures.
