Depends on the bug. : The antibiotic of choice is dictated by the susceptibility of the particular bacteria in the urine. Not all e. Coli are the same with respect to their response to the same antibiotics. If your UTI hasn't responded to 8 weeks treatment, it could be that the e. Coli is resistant to the antibiotics tried or that a prostate abscess is present. A urologist could help you.
