Toddler has rsv, doctor said chest xray showed "possible" infiltrate but may be too soon to tell only 24hrs after start of symptoms.whats this mean?

Followiup film neede: Because of the RSV virus the lungs may be hyperventlilated and as result may be hiding the infiltrate on xray. A follow x-ray may be more revealing.

Not much: Be guided by the child's pattern of illness. Rsv is one of the most common "cold" viruses & random chest xrays of RSV kids will often show scattered densities which have little importance. If the kid begins to run significant fever or breathing difficulty, have a recheck.Rsv seldom causes problems in kids over 20 lb unless they have asthma or other health issues.
