Stretch, light load: It really depends on the injury. A muscle strain may take several weeks to get better. Assuming no nerve or spine damage, you can likely proceed with stretching and light activity, and work back to normal activity depending on how it feels. Ibuprofen (nsaids), massage, heat or ice, may all continue to help. If any numbness, tingling, weakness, or shooting pains, see a doctor!

May take longer.: Some strains are slow to improve. If pain persists, or if there is any numbness, tingling or weakness, nerve or spine injury could be involved, and your doctor may want to evaluate.
