Not per se but....: Custody determinations look at the actual behavior of a parent and risk to the child. Someone who has placed a child at risk, or harmed him or her, can lose custody with or without a mental condition. The condition alone is rarely enough-- if you are actively and continuously engaged in your treatment. Bipolar responds very well to psychotherapy and medication: right for you and your child anyway.

No: One cannot lose a child due to a diagnosis- any diagnosis. It would have to entail any physical, mental or sexual abuse of the child or any medical neglect. Take care
