Unlikely for 18: Weakness and numbness in the arm is more likely from as C5 cervical disk then a rotator cuff tear if you are under 40, particularly without major trauma.

Possibly: Many things can cause arm weakness and radiating pain, including nerve pain. However, at your young age, i would suspect shoulder instability which can ultimately lead to rotator cuff tearing. If you have had persistent difficulty, make an appointment with your doctor to help get to the correct diagnosis before undertaking a treatment plan.
