Sometimes: It depends most on treatment plan (drug-choice in particular). Before i would potentially start a controlled / addictive medication, i want to assess your addictive behaviors, and see if you've been "self-medicating" illicitly. It is not an automatic that your dr doesn't trust you or believe you. It is for mutual protection.
