Insomnia: Insomnia may have many causes. Sleeping pills may not be the answer. See your doctor who may refer you to a sleep specialist if neeeded.

Insomnia: I agree w dr. Den. Work on sleep hygiene first. Seek medical evaluation if not successful. 1. Keep a regular bedtime & wakening time (to include weekends). Get up the same time each day, regardless of what time you fell asleep. 2. Make a regular, relaxing bedtime routine. Relaxing rituals prior to bedtime may include a warm bath or shower, aroma therapy, reading, or listening to gentle music.

Insomnia: Sleeping pills are at best, a temporary solution to your insomnia. Hopefully you're getting evaluations of this from sleep medicine physicians and/or psychiatrists -- especially if it has not responded to sleep hygiene measures similar to dr. Fowler's suggestions. Sleeping pills can cause habituation, and then when you miss one, you can have withdrawal insomnia. Puts you in a never-ending cycle.
