Lactobacillus: Many species of bacteria can be isolated from vaginal specimens from healthy women. Lactobacilli are the predominate bacteria of the vaginal flora and comprise more than 95% of the bacteria in the normal vagina. In terms of infections, bacterial vaginosis (bv), trichomonas, and candidiasis ("yeast infection") are frequently encountered.
